About the 5th International Exhibition and Conference on Iran Distribution Industry

The National Association of the Iranian Distribution Industry has adopted a dynamic approach for improving related knowledge in accordance with fresh global academic findings. The approach is believed to help member companies gain a competitive advantage in the market. The association’s authorities hope that more interactions with global market players will help Iranians achieve their set goals with optimal results.

The association has been attempting in the recent past, by applying precise plans and appropriate strategies, to become a key supportive NGO in the distribution sector. To fulfill its natural mission to help develop the industry and add values to it, the association has so far held four international conferences and exhibitions which all ended up to strategic achievements.

The main goals behind holding such conferences are to encourage educational activities; to increase interactions between a variety of entities – including the governmental and private organizations as well as academic centers and market players; and to concentrate on challenges and opportunities facing the industry while both the authorities and the experts are present at the event and would interact personally with one another.

In the previous rounds of the conference, the organizer managed to invite influential speakers, hold applied workshops on the sideline of the event, and organized exhibitions showcasing the potential of the Iranian distribution industry in an attempt to discuss the industry’s issues and come up with latest solutions.

In line with the new approach, policies and plans of the National Association of Distribution Industry, the fifth international exhibition and conference on Iran distribution industry is set to be held in May. The event is hoped to go beyond the results of the previous rounds of conference as more entities are expected to be involved in the event, including the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, agent banks, member companies of the association, suppliers of hardware and software equipment, and business managers involve in the industry.

The main objectives of the event include:

  • To help boost the relations between the association’s members and the industry players throughout the world on the one hand, and help the Iranian entity to play a more effective role in expanding the Iranian FMCG sector’s global relations.
  • To enhance the knowledge level of the Iranian distribution industry’s players through workshops to be held on the sideline of the conference with the presence of key global speakers.
  • To form international pavilions in cooperation with common chambers of commerce, the Trade Promotion Organization and the Organization for Foreign Investment.
  • To invite reputable suppliers of logistic, software and hardware equipment from across the world to attend the conference.
  • To invite global trade delegations to the conference, in cooperation with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs its embassies based in world countries.
  • To form an exports zone at the exhibition presenting the latest achievements of the Iranian companies, aiming to increase exports to neighboring nations and CIS countries.
  • To invite high-ranking state authorities to the event in an attempt to make them more familiar with the challenges and problems facing the distribution industry
  • To hold workshops attended by prominent experts in global trade law and reputable speakers.

 

The exhibition is to be held in an area of 20,000 square meters on the Iranian island of Kish. The activities to be occurred during the event include holding specialized meetings, workshops and B2B sessions focusing on renovation in the industry and the challenges and opportunities the Iranian distribution sector is facing. A number of MoUs and contracts are also expected to be signed on the sideline of the event among the association, ministries and involved entities. In the meantime, the organizer expects and domestic and foreign delegations will cooperate with one another to expand target markets and partnerships.


About the Association of Iran Distribution Industry

The Association of Iran Distribution Industry is the sole legal entity in the country that was formed in 1999 based on Article 131 of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution. It was first registered with the labor and employers organizations affiliated to the Labor Ministry. Two years later in 2001, the entity was also registered with Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines to secure the legal rights and benefits of the employers involved in the distribution industry – a move that aimed to eventually secure the benefits of public.

Goals behind the association’s establishment:

  • To maintain, support and develop businesses involved in the distribution industry across the country
  • To avoid unhealthy competitions and pave the ground for healthy competition among market players
  • To exchange views between member companies to come up with appropriate solutions and codify standards
  • To form an information hub to sort out and process data relating to standards, customers and technology firms while interacting with global data centers that share updated information between market plays and academic and research centers

The association is particularly aimed at playing a role in well distributing consumer goods across the country and utilizing latest know-how and technologies while encourage all involved in the industry to respect professional ethics.

Where to hold the event?

Kish Island, with an approximate area of 91 square kilometers, is located 18 kilometers from the southern coast of Iran, in the northern part of the Persian Gulf. The island has an oval shape with the big diameter of 15 km and small diameter of 8 km. It is the capital of Kish District in Bandar Lengeh, Hormozgan Province.

The geographical features of Kish, including its location in the strategic area of ​​the Persian Gulf, its favorable weather in 8 months of the year and its coral beaches have made an attractive tourist site and a commercial hub out of the island.

Transportation:

The island enjoys different types of transportation networks.

Land transportation: Kish’s urban transportation network has a wide coverage across the island.

Air transportation: The Kish International Airport is one of the most active airports in Iran. In terms of the annual number of flights and passengers, it is the fourth active airport in the country.

Sea transportation: The port of Kish handles 3.5 million tonnes of cargo and 730,000 passengers per annum. The maximum size of vessels calling at the port is 12,000 gross tonnage per vessel. The cargo capacity is set to reach 7 million tonnes in the future and the maximum size of vessels will be increased to 35,000 gross tonnage per vessel.

Meanwhile, a new passenger terminal for the Kish trade port is under construction with an area of 7,500 square meters and a building area of 12,000 square meters. The capacity of the terminal is estimated at 3,500 passengers per day. The terminal will be constructed in 3 floors consisting of offices, VIP halls, banks, ticket selling booths, customs offices, restaurants, shops and welfare areas, and waiting halls – all equipped with air conditioning and safety and security systems.
